Carneval Zone - Assorted Mock-Up by MrLevRocks Carneval Zone - Assorted Mock-Up by MrLevRocks
So, here's something to keep you entertained for a while...

You might wonder what this crap is and you'd be right, I never hinted, mentioned or showed anything like this prior, but let me explain first.
There was once a Sonic fan game called "Sonic Thunder", made by AssassinHeatBeat (or at least lead by him) and his team. I have to admit it's older than I can say for my projects, first posts dating back to around 2012-2013, but what matters is that it never was completed. Fast forward to 2015-2016, a good friend of mine, who goes by Lhancat (here's her Twitter, now Looker from Pokémon-flavoured: twitter.com/Looker836 ; Send her some gratulations, her birthday is in 2 days), picked it up, getting full controll over the resources and ideas. So, as you do, she asked me for help (because I'm either the only or the cheapest tile artist she knows) and I provided, first by editing some old tiles into a sheet, then she wanted a new stage 1 and I was able to provide. Sadly, however, her motivations and interests moved on (but I'm still Mr. Free-Help for her, so everything's fine), so here we are, with yet another cancelled project and some art I originally made for it.

As hinted at before, this was meant to be Zone 1, evading the tropical coast trope that both official and fan games of the Sonic series are plagued with (though I don't mind them too much, if executed well). It's a carneval/fair type stage, set mostly on the rails you can see in the image. Since I couldn't find the sprites that were supposed to be used for the game (and Lhancat was of no help), I've decided to use Sonic 2 sprites (and the HUD to go along with it), since this looks a bit too detailed for my usual Sonic 1/CD sprites, but Sonic 3-era sprites are a bit too detailed and shaded for this enviroment.

As for the image itself, there's not much to say, I made most of the background and tiles myself and what I didn't was the foreground lightpoles and the ferris wheel in the background, those were ripped by PixAndPixels, whereas the cloudy sky was ripped by Divine Insect. Yawackery as per usual provided the Sonic 2 sprite of Sonic.

So, all in all, it's a thing, what do you think?

Sonic the Hedgehog is respectivly owned by Sega of Japan Ltd.

WARNING! BIG COMMENT COMING! HERE IT GOES!

Sonic Thunder, huh? Yeah I know that fangame. AssassinHeatBeat, he was one of my watchers 3 years ago before he deleted his account. 1 of His fangame's older demo had one of my custom booses i made fav.me/d75p9zv. Later, It had my Level, Tetromino Riverfalls fav.me/d8a1glm along with its badniks fav.me/d8a1i5e, And It even had an option where you can change the ingame HUD's cause it even had my HUD sprites I made back in 2014 in his game. fav.me/d8bmfbm. He couldn't been able release his newer demo cause apparently my level didn't have a gimmick at all. So I made 3 choices of gimmicks for Tetromino Riverfalls fav.me/d9cp7lt (letter B seems to give the bigger tetris vibe). But then all of a sudden, POOF! He's history along with his screenshots here on DeviantART (in other words, He deleted his account) Why? He was going to rename his account, Sonic thunder archive like he did with his YouTube account but since it requires Core Membership to change his username, BAM! He deletes account submissions and all! :(

Well, what can you do about it, eh? As I said, it was sadly all before my time, for me Thunder started existing (more or less) the moment Lhancat came into chat and said "You heard of that fan game called Sonic Thunder? AssassingHeatBeat gave me the everything about it, who wants to tag along?" and since I'm none to keep my hands clean, I decided to join.

Fun little thing that both you worked on it and Tetromino Riverfalls was the original first stage, since the first thing I did for Thunder Ver. 2 was, as hinted at, edit your sheet of Tetromino Riverfalls into a form that's easier to handle for GameMaker (I think it still was GM8 at that time, not GMStudio), if you want I can try to find and upload it to my sta.sh, should you want to see what people might do with your work.

Here you go: sta.sh/0nrdxqygrbm . As you can see, I didn't really do much, my job was to make just an useable tileset, I think I did an acceptable job.

Here's a link to the picture of screenshots to what Sonic Thunder would have.
