Description

So, here's something to keep you entertained for a while...

You might wonder what this crap is and you'd be right, I never hinted, mentioned or showed anything like this prior, but let me explain first.
There was once a Sonic fan game called "Sonic Thunder", made by AssassinHeatBeat (or at least lead by him) and his team. I have to admit it's older than I can say for my projects, first posts dating back to around 2012-2013, but what matters is that it never was completed. Fast forward to 2015-2016, a good friend of mine, who goes by Lhancat (here's her Twitter, now Looker from Pokémon-flavoured: twitter.com/Looker836 ; Send her some gratulations, her birthday is in 2 days), picked it up, getting full controll over the resources and ideas. So, as you do, she asked me for help (because I'm either the only or the cheapest tile artist she knows) and I provided, first by editing some old tiles into a sheet, then she wanted a new stage 1 and I was able to provide. Sadly, however, her motivations and interests moved on (but I'm still Mr. Free-Help for her, so everything's fine), so here we are, with yet another cancelled project and some art I originally made for it.

As hinted at before, this was meant to be Zone 1, evading the tropical coast trope that both official and fan games of the Sonic series are plagued with (though I don't mind them too much, if executed well). It's a carneval/fair type stage, set mostly on the rails you can see in the image. Since I couldn't find the sprites that were supposed to be used for the game (and Lhancat was of no help), I've decided to use Sonic 2 sprites (and the HUD to go along with it), since this looks a bit too detailed for my usual Sonic 1/CD sprites, but Sonic 3-era sprites are a bit too detailed and shaded for this enviroment.

As for the image itself, there's not much to say, I made most of the background and tiles myself and what I didn't was the foreground lightpoles and the ferris wheel in the background, those were ripped by PixAndPixels, whereas the cloudy sky was ripped by Divine Insect. Yawackery as per usual provided the Sonic 2 sprite of Sonic.

So, all in all, it's a thing, what do you think?
